For the longest time it was common practice for me to replace an inner tube that would no longer accept air. The thought process was simple. I would get a flat, patch a tire, fill it with air, and then move on. When the tire would no longer accept air, it was time to replace the inner tube. That was the process and for a time it worked flawlessly. Then the pandemic happened and inner tubes became one of those essential items. The bike shops told me that they couldnt keep them in stock. The online retailers gave me unrealistic dates for arrival. Neighbors and friends only had used inner tubes. The online sellers (Ebay and Amazon) were not as reliable as the commercials would allow us to believe. I was dreading getting on the bike and having a puncture. The thought of replacing a tube that wouldnt accept air was something that I pedaled with daily. I rode as one would walk over cracked iced, carefully watching the road infront of me for any debris. Glass, sticks, garbage, toys, rocks, even the routinely found train nail or stray keychain would not be lost from my glance. I was watching everything. Then I happened across a video from youtube, that mentioned something about a valve core remover. I had no idea that it was possible to take the core of a valve from an innertube and replace it with a new one. What was more was that these valve cores were cheaper and easier to acquire than a brand new inner tube. I purchased this one and was surprised at how easy the process was. Simply taking the included valve core wrench, something I could never find in the bike shop, remove the old valve core and replace it with the new one. The whole process took less time then it took to type this review.I cant tell you how much money I have thrown away because I had valves that would just stop working. Either the air could not be pushed through them or they just became so filled with (whatever) that they just stopped working. Had I known about this, or products like this I would have save myself so much money. Now when i ride, I dont have to be as cautious. The thought of being stranded on the road, with a tube that wont accept air is a fear of the past. I keep the valve core wrench as well as the spare cores in my bag, just in case I need them. Granted I have only used it a few times and those times I was in the house. Still, I believe it is better to have the tools to get you back on the road, than to need them and not have them.
