One could argue this item is priced high for a piece of wood with leather on either side of it. I normally wouldn’t argue but this item is absolutely worth it in value returned. First of all, each side has different kind of leather on it. One side is a rougher leather while the other side is a much smoother, much finer leather. It’s designed that it can fit comfortably in your hand while stropping the knife in your other hand. The strop also comes with a couple pieces of extra wood that fit together to make a little stand so that the strop is elevated. I attempted to use it that way but it felt awkward to me. I would rather just hold it in my hand but I appreciate having the option. Also, the wooden pieces that make the stand had a paper in the notches to help protect the integrity of the notches made so that it fit very snug. I very much appreciated the attention to that detail. Also, when I opened the box the items were, all of the prices were protected and vacuum sealed up so that the spray wouldn’t be everywhere if the bottle leaked and the wood pieces were also protected, as well as the leather itself. The wood also has little strips of leather to stop it from moving of you end up laying it down and using it with the stand. Again, a nice attention to detail.The last thing is the diamond spray. I have no idea if the spray is what it says it is or what’s contained in it. It’s a bottle with some instructions but it seems to be a bottle and ingredients the company is filling and distributing. I’ve liberally sprayed it in both sides of the leather and let it soak in. I’m a fairly decent knife sharpener. I’m not great but I’m fairly good and I’ve been doing it for a while now. I sharpen my knives manually on diamond stones. I can typically get most knives razor sharp to the point that it will shave the hair off of your arm. There’s a level of sharpness referred to as “hair popping”, which refers to the hair literally popping up as you slowly pull the edge of the knife along your arm. I had never achieved that level of sharpness until today when using this strip and diamond spray. I also have a couple of cheap knives that I’ve always been able to get pretty sharp but I had never gotten them to shave my arm hair, until today and after using this strip. The kind of leather as well as the diamond spray has literally leveled up my sharpening skills. Again, I’m not a novice knife sharpener. I’ve been manually sharpening my own knives on stones for years now. I literally just achieved a new level of sharpness simply by using this leather strop and the spray it came with.Cons: NONE. Well, the only con is that I didn’t find and order this item sooner. I would immediately recommend this strop to anyone that sharpens their knives. Fantastic value.
