I just bought a house with a pond already installed. It wasn’t a deterrent to me that the pond was frog, algae and debris filled. I cleaned it out, bought a filter, added plants and fish but wasn’t seeing any positive results. Algae was always in bloom. Used more chemicals and barley than I liked but it wasn’t working. Realized I needed a better pump. One with a UV light. Within one week the algae was gone and I’m not cleaning the filter of sludge on a daily basis as I did w the original filter which did not have UV.My pond is in its original location and will be reworked soon enough. It has a small hole somewhere which is why the water level is so low and it could use more plants. But all in all. The fish and plants are happy, healthy and growing and I can finally see them.
